Meeting with Karelle and Marco, the founders of Marco Traverso & Histoires d’Ours, who own a wonderful flower and decoration shop in Monaco in the La Condamine district. An elegant and poetic universe whose spirit can be found in the exceptional events organized by Karelle and her husband in parallel.
Marco Traverso & Histoires d’Ours is above all a love story, that of Marco, a florist and Karelle from the world of jewelry. Love at first sight more than twenty years ago and from there, the desire to walk together by mixing their two worlds. Forced to leave the doomed Monte-Carlo market, where Marco had been running a shop for several years, Karelle and Marco looked for new premises and stumbled upon the shop of their dreams in 2004: “A real crush! With lots of space, an interior garden, a workshop at the back and a small office area. Karelle recalls with emotion. The brand name then becomes Marco Traverso & Histoires d’Ours, a nod to Karelle’s passion for bears since childhood but above all a symbol and lucky charm for the couple.
A high-end flower and decoration store? Rather a “boutique house” likes to say Karelle with a florist party, partner of the most beautiful ceremonies in Monaco such as the princely wedding and those of the children of Princess Caroline. “We want people who come in to feel at home,” explains the owners. And the bet is successful. With its various corners with elegant and cozy atmospheres, Karelle et Marco’s boutique is a very popular, somewhat secret address. Shabby chic spirit, English cottage, revisited industrial or ethnic, the different atmospheres created by the couple breathe a breath of poetry into the decor. “The idea is not to copy and paste fashions, but rather to divert universes, to bring our personal vision of things” they enthusiastically.
A strong identity that is now expressed through other projects since Marco Traverso & Histoires d’Ours also manages the organization and coordination of festive events. “With the exception of the kitchen, we take care of everything down to the smallest detail: crockery, decoration, flowers, atmosphere, a concept…” explains Karelle Traverso. The strength of the couple? Knowing how to adapt to the various demands and expectations of their customers “while always remaining in the register of emotion” confides the creator of the KTC brand. Recently, the director of the prestigious hotel in Paris Monte-Carlo (for which Marco Traverso has been a florist for more than 30 years) gave them carte blanche to stage a florist workshop corner in the establishment’s new patio, to highlight before their know-how.
